About Our Fellowship

We are a community of people who gather together on the basis of shared values as expressed in the seven principles of Unitarian Universalism. We welcome all in our community to work for a just and compassionate world. We live out our values within a “living tradition” of wisdom and spirituality, drawn from sources as diverse as science, poetry, scripture, and personal experience and support others in traveling their spiritual path.

About Our Name

Licking County, Ohio has the largest earthen enclosures in the world. They were built by the indigenous people, called the Hopewell culture by historians, between 100 BCE and 400 CE. One of these structures, the Great Circle Mound, is believed to be a place for ceremony, gathering, worship, and honoring the dead. Certainly it was a place for the people native to this part of Ohio to come together in a circle wide enough to include all. We honor the legacy of their community with our name because we hope to draw a circle in Licking County, so wide that everyone can find a place of belonging and support. We also got the idea for this name from the Mark Miller song, "Draw the Circle Wide" . One of the lines is, "Draw the circle wide. Draw it wider still. Let this be our song, no one stands alone." That is the Great Circle of Fellowship we want to create.
